I want to extend to you and your family a very warm welcome to the Secondary Division of Saint John Mary International School. I would like to extend a very warm welcome to all new families joining SJMIS this year and welcome back to all returning families as well.

This year, we introduced the Global Assessment Certificate (GAC) as an additional curricular offering to our Grade 10 students, as a result, we now have four different streams in Grade 10 namely: (1) Regular Science Stream, (2) Regular Business Stream, (3) GAC-Science Stream, and (4) GAC-Business Stream. Students enrolled in eth GAC Program must pass the entry requirements which include written and oral exams duly approved by the GAC personnel in Singapore and Hong Kong.

By academic year 2019-2020, we will have full implementation of the GAC program in the high school curriculum spanning from Grades 10-12. Students must pass all three levels to be able to graduate in the GAC program. Students graduating from the GAC will be receiving two separate transcripts and diplomas one from SJMIS and another from GAC in the United States of America. Students with GAC certificate will have better chances at entering hundreds of universities from around the world. Some of the universities in the United States that recognize the GAC offer credit points for an undergraduate degree, and a number of them offer scholarships which can significantly reduce tuition and living expenses. Many of them offer credits of up to 39 as recommended by the American Council on Education (ACE)and up to 36 as recognized by the Academic Credentials Evaluation Institute (ACEI).

In Thailand, GAC certificate is recognized by Thammasat University-Sirindhorn International Institute of Technology (SIIT), King Mongkut’s University of Technology, Shinawatra University, Webster University,  University of Thai Chamber of Commerce among others.

The GAC program is coupled with the English Proficiency Program (EPP) in the Middle School preparing our students towards satisfying the entry requirements of the GAC when they reach Grade 10.

Also this academic year, we are expecting a mid-term visit from the Accrediting Commission for Schools – Western Association of Schools and Colleges (ACS-WASC), proving that indeed SJMIS is at par with the institutions from around the world providing quality international education.

The school is a rich and inclusive community built on strong positive relationships and high aspirations for our students.

The teachers and staff are privileged to be a part of our students’ lives holding true to the belief that is to realize the full potential of our students, bringing out the best in them.

Together as a school family, we will build on the experiences of the past and meet the challenges of the future in an exciting and innovative ways.
